DOES A UKRAINIAN SCHOOL HAVE THE RIGHT NOT TO COUNT A YEAR OF STUDY ABROAD? OR EXPEL A STUDENT DUE TO HIS OR HER ABSENCE FROM UKRAINE?
Ukrainian children of school age who have studied abroad will be able to continue their education in local schools upon their return to Ukraine.
No student, regardless of where he or she is, whether he or she is able to keep in touch with his or her school or not, will be expelled from the Ukrainian education system. Expulsion is possible only if parents apply to the school with a corresponding application.
Firstly, it is important to note that all children will be able to continue their education after returning to Ukraine. They will also have the right to be enrolled in a Ukrainian educational institution and transferred to the next school year.
Secondly, to simplify the process, parents should take care to obtain from the educational institution abroad an information certificate on the period of study indicating the list of subjects and individual topics, as well as the results of the assessment that can be taken into account in the final (semester or annual) assessment by the Ukrainian educational institution. This will be the basis for transferring the student to the next year of study.
